‘Glass’ trailer reveals completion of superhero trilogy
One of the exciting new movies that had a trailer debut at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was “Glass.” The film features the completion of a superhero trilogy created by director M. Night Shyamalan. Fans are already dissecting the new movie trailer to figure out what might happen in the upcoming thriller with a star-studded cast. It’s been almost 20 years since the original film launched the series, making for a necessary final chapter.
“Glass” is the third movie in a series that began with 2000’s “Unbreakable” and veered off into 2016’s “Split.” The first film looked at an interesting battle between superhero and villain. Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson starred as the protagonist David Dunn and antagonist Mr. Glass, respectively. Willis’ Dunn was the only survivor from a horrific trainwreck, while Jackson’s Mr. Glass suffers from a rare disease causing him easily broken bones throughout his body. However, as seen from his antics, he’s also a criminal mastermind.
In “Split,” neither of these characters were featured in the main film. Instead, it portrayed the psychopathic character Kevin Wendell Crumb, aka “The Horde,” played by James McAvoy. His confused nature involved over 20 different personalities all coming forth from inside his mind. Unfortunately, one of those personalities was a monstrous killer intent on preying upon younger females. An interesting end credits scene brought David Dunn into the picture with mention of Mr. Glass.
The third film “Glass” will bring all three characters together in a common setting. The new movie trailer shows Willis, Jackson, and McAvoy all seated in front of a therapist or criminal interrogator. However, it appears that things will take a turn for the worse with Jackson and McAvoy’s villainous characters teaming up to wreak havoc. Willis will once again have to play the role of the good guy to thwart their attempts at mayhem.
There’s already been a new movie behind the scenes interview involving members of the cast that appeared on Conan O’Brien’s late night show. They spoke about how the “unlikely” superhero trilogy’s final chapter came about. Apparently, both Jackson and Willis had been trying to get M. Night Shyamalan to create a sequel for their film. The director also revealed he became emotional when he saw the two characters back together after 18 years.
The new movie behind the scenes backstory adds even more reason to see this possible completion of the tale. It’s been nearly two decades but the story will be told. “Glass” will be among the new movies in theaters for 2019, with a scheduled release date of January 18.
