Swedish Actress Michelle Nordlander Talks about Working with Some of the Best Actors in Sweden. With Michelle Nordlander’s upcoming films and series coming out soon, we wanted to know a little bit more about her acting background in Sweden. She used to work alongside big Swedish actors at the extremely popular independent stage at Boulevard Theatre in Stockholm. After studying at the Boulevard Theatre’s own drama school for a year, the owner and director Roger Westberg saw Michelle’s outstanding talent on stage that he asked her to work as a regular actress at their theatre. They threw Michelle right in at the deep end with some of the biggest names in Sweden to be part of the production ‘The Bald Soprano’ written by Lonesco, and among the big names was actress Kim Anderzon (winner of the biggest film award inSweden ‘Guld Baggen’ and who has also acted in 27 feature films 26 TV series). Actor Helge Skoog who’s been hosting some of the most popular Swedish TV showsand has done 29 TV Series and 10 features and a huge cult figure in Sweden. Actor Nils Eklund who worked alongside the King of Comedy and Academy Award winner Jerry Lewis in his film’“The Day the Clown Cried’. Nils Eklund has worked on 28 filmsand in 27 TV series. The director was Lena Söderblom, who also happens to be a well-known actress who has worked alongside the legendary Ingmar Bergman in a couple of productions. Ingmar Bergman, for those who don’t know, was one of the most famous directors and screen writers to ever exist in the film industry. He’s an Academy Award winner (with also 9 academy award nominations), a 7 time Cannes Film Festival winner and a winner of 2 BAFTA Awards! So with all this being said, you would think Michelle Nordlander was nervous when she was in the same room meeting all of these extraordinary actors! But she said that she felt completely calm and confident that her talent would match these big names, after all, why else would they hire her? Needless to say, she received a warm welcome on her first day of rehearsals at the theatre. “It was amazing to work with these talents who have been in the industry for such a long time. They had so many stories they would tell me when we were drinking coffee backstage before the show. It was almost like gossiping between them when they spoke about being behind the scenes in different productions and the people they had worked with. It was a lot of fun and they all really took care of me”.The production of ‘The Bald Soprano’ originally premiered in Paris in 1950. However,it was so badly received by both the audience and newspapers, that they had to closeit all down. Seven years later, they opened the play again with a new director and it has been playing at the same stage ever since. “We actually went to Paris with the whole cast to watch it. Even though it was in French, we all laughed since we knew the play back to front by this point”, says Michelle. But when the lead actress Kim Anderzon passed away of cancer after being in the show back to back for almost three years, they decided to shut the production down.“It was very sad”, says Michelle,“Kim Anderzon was such a popular actress in Sweden, everyone loved her”.
Michelle is currently working in Validus Production’s new series called WitchHaven PI, in which she plays the lead antagonist of the show. They just finished shooting season one and another season is currently in pre-production. Michelle also has a feature film coming out this summer called Happy Birthday Duncan, with Arbore Company productions, in which she is one of the lead actresses. She was also just confirmed to play the lead role in an upcoming feature film called ‘The Making of a Bad Bitch’, produced by Alexander Formenius, which will start production later this year. Michelle is one talented and extremely sort after actress, who never seems to stop booking back to back roles. But that’s no surprise to us! Her passion, professionalism and talent says it all!
