“The Disaster Artist” Teaser
Among the new movies coming out soon is The Disaster Artist, a new movie behind the scenes of the making of The Room.
The Room was made by, and starred, Tommy Wiseau. Ostensibly about a man named Johnny whose fiancée, Lisa, cheats on him with his best friend Mark, it became a “So Bad It’s Good” hit due to Wiseau’s own strange accent and mannerisms, the nonsensical and often repeating scenes, and a thousand other details too numerous to list.
Mark, the adulterous friend, was played by Wiseau’s real-life friend, Greg Sestero. Sestero went on to write The Disaster Artist about the film and his friendship with Wiseau, which is now being made into a new movie behind the scenes look at how this “disaster” occurred.
Wiseau, who has claimed at times that The Room was actually supposed to be a weird comedy (though few believe him), has reportedly signed off on this parody of himself.
The new movie trailer is deceptively simple: James Franco plays Wiseau playing Johnny as he comes out onto a sound stage that is supposed to be Johnny’s apartment building’s roof. (Okay, that’s not SO simple.) He pauses and then asks, “What line? What is line?”
The script supervisor, played by Seth Rogen, recites the rambling line: “It’s not true. It’s bullshit. I did not hit her. I did not. Oh, hi, Mark.”
It takes Wiseau nearly seventy takes to get the line right, as Sestero (Dave Franco) offers his friend encouragement. Finally, he gives the line listlessly, weakly throwing a water bottle to the ground for dramatic effect, and the whole crew bursts into happy applause.
The movie opens in theaters December 8. 2017 and is rate R The new movie trailer, and more about new movies, can be found at futurepreviews.com.
