On Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, reports from Syrian opposition activists indicates 45 people dead as airstrikes hit rebel-held Aleppo and surrounding villages.

The activist collective, with the name Aleppo Media Center, released the information. However, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in Britain, declared that the number of casualties as 69. They also reported that the dead include 13 children and teenagers.

The airstrikes have been reported just before the nationwide cease-fire was about to start. The proposed cease-fire is the result of a deal between the United States and Russia, which occurred a week after a new partnership was set up militarily targeting IS and Al-Qaida militants, as well as establishing new limits on the Syrian President Bashar al-Asad’s forces.

More Than 4 Million Killed Since the Beginning of Civil War

As per a report by Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, more than 4 million people have been killed since the beginning of the civil war. The number of displaced population is even higher. Al-Jazeera reported in March 2015, that 10.9 million Syrians have been displaced. Since that report, it is likely the number would have increased. In total 4,812,993 refugees have been registered.
