Street Fighter V: New Battle System will be released for PlayStation 4, PC, and LNX Feb. 16, 2016. This game is rated T for Teen.

The new battle system, the Variable System, or the V-System has three variable mechanics, which are built around the new V-Gauge. The V-Gauge builds when your character takes damage.

The three mechanics:

V-Skill – skills unique to specific characters, which can be used at any time (medium punch + medium kick) and do not require the V-Gauge to use. The V-Skills can help a character in an area they are weak or fill up the V-Gauge faster.

V-Trigger – abilities unique to each character and cannot be activated until the V-Gauge is full. V-Triggers are a lot like the Ultras in Street Fighter IV and can turn the tides in battle. Activating the V-Trigger gives the player access to the character’s full potential. It is up to the player to use the benefits to change the course of the battle. V-Triggers add depth to each character.

V-Reversal – use a stock of V-Gauge. It allows the player to counter an attack while blocking. These moves are similar to Alpha counters from the Street Fighter Alpha series, however, each counter does not have a universal effect. Some push the opponent backwards, or knock down your opponent, or switch sides.

Ex Gauge – this builds as your opponent takes damage. Characters can use powered up version of special attacks. Once the Ex-Gauge is maxed out the player can use Critical Art. These moves are very damaging, cinematic attacks unique to each character.
