Gomez

Selena Gomez had an unexpected spell of depression strike, after her recent 2016 Revival World Tour. The pop star decided to take a sabbatical after dealing with the harsh side effects of Lupus.

Gomez revealed to the world last year that she had been battling from this disorder for years. Even though this chronic, autoimmune disease is known to damage any part of the body such as skin, joints, and other organs, it appears her issue is more mental than physical.

So what is really going on? It appears that that Lupus has been taking a toll on her mind. Gomez has been coping with a common symptom of the condition, which is the emotional drain from the stress of dealing with the difficulties of physical illness.
“I have found out that lupus has side effects like panic attacks, depression, and anxiety, all of which can bring along their own complications,” the 24-year-old Texas native said in an interview with People. However, the pop star is not taking it lying down. “I desire to be active and concentrate on keeping my health up and contentment and have made the decision that the best thing right now was for me to just take some time off,” Gomez continued.

Gomez has been a busy woman. For the past several months, she has been traveling all over the world on her Revival Tour. While on this journey, she had the chance to thank her fans for their support and mentioned that she needed to take care of herself for a while.

“This is something I need to face head on to guarantee I am doing all I know to take care of myself. This is something that I know I am not carrying alone. I hope others will be heartened to speak to their own problems,” Gomez said.

Gomez’s tour was scheduled for stops all over Britain and Europe, in October and November. It is uncertain if the show is slated to continue. It is clear, however, that it has been a hard year for the singer, so it appears that taking time off is a likely option.

The singer had a lot to manage within the past 12 months, from disclosing she was diagnosed with Lupus and then having to deal with swarms of hatemongers online. All of this and more would seem to be enough to push anyone into a feeling of depression. However, Gomez tried to push through all the negative and move onward with her life, by launching her Revival World Tour in May. However, could it had been the toll of the travel was the straw that broke the camel’s back, and sent Gomez into a sudden spell of depression? Or was it a combination of things?

According to E! News, this combination could have included her nasty social media dispute with Justin Bieber, who is a former boyfriend. It was just two weeks after this incident that she chose to take a break from things. There is also the strong possibility that the medications Gomez is taking for the Lupus, especially if they are steroids, could be taking a toll on her emotions and making her more disposed to depression.

Whatever the reason may be, it appears that Gomez is taking the right steps to conqueror this sudden spell of depression by just good old fashion rest. It is possible that Lupus could prevent Gomez from going out and doing the things she wants to do, such as tour. However, at this time, it seems that taking time off from traveling is the best thing.
