Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Cinephiles were pleasantly surprised to be treated to a new movie trailer this week for the latest installment of the Jurassic Park franchise. It is called Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and hits theaters on June 22, 2018.
Fallen Kingdom picks up where the first Jurassic World left off. Chris Pratt is back, reprising his role as a dinosaur trainer named Owen. Bryce Dallas Howard is also back as Claire. The two are teamed up from the start in this new movie, trying to help the dinosaurs left on the island. New movies and sequels are supposed to build off of what the original started, and Jurassic World is no exception.
In 2015’s movie, hybrid dinosaurs outsmarted their human captors and wrecked havoc on the island where they were housed. In Fallen Kingdom, it appears that island is going to blow up, and the dinosaurs need humans’ help.
Jeff Goldblum, star of the original Jurassic Park film, returns as well, to the delight of fans of the franchise. His Ian Malcolm character is asked about what responsibility humans have to save the dinosaurs facing this event. Goldblum is a delight in most of his projects, including new movies and new movie behind the scenes extras. He also nails his lines when the lights are brightest, as in this new movie trailer.
Fallen Kingdom seems like just the right amount of action and silliness that fans liked about Jurassic World. It remains to be seen if the plot will hold up considering the trailer seems pretty lacking. We need a new movie behind the scenes account of the making of this film to know what was left on the cutting room floor. But whatever final product reaches theaters, it is sure to be exhilarating. It is hard to go wrong with Pratt starring next to dinosaurs!
