The latest trailer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been revealed. Black Panther is the latest instalment in the MCU and the last feature before the next Avengers team up movie; Avengers: Infinity War. Black Panther has an all star cast lead by Chadwick Boseman as the titular Black Panther (42, Get on Up), Michael B. Jordan as the villain Erik Killmonger (Creed, Fantastic Four), and Lupita Nyong’o portraying Nakia aka Malice (Star Wars VII, 12 Years a Slave), all directed by the up and coming, award winning Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station). As with any Marvel film the list of minor characters is extensive including Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman reprising the MCU roles of Ulysses Klaw and Agent Ross respectively, as well as the debut of Forest Whitaker as Zuri.
The story of Black Panther takes place in the fictional African nation of Wakanda, a technologically advanced nation hidden in the heart of East Africa. The film follows T’Challa (Black Panther) as he returns home after the events of Captain America: Civil War in which his father, the previous King of Wakanda perished. Erik Killmonger and Nakia intend to test the new king and see if he is as principled and merciful as his father. You have to wonder what other Marvel characters will show up in the film as Captain America and many other Avengers exiled themselves and took refuge in Wakanda at the end of Civil War.
With it’s top level cast and amazing director Marvel’s Black Panther is shaping up to be another his by Kevin Feige and the MCU, and should give Marvel fans enough excitement to tide them over until the final Avengers film.
Black Panther opens in theaters February 16th, 2018.
